Full moon night in Manasarovar Lake on 07 September 2025 (Purnima)

The snow-capped rocky Peak- Mount Kailash Parbat (Kangri Rimpoche), 6714meters high, is believed to be a place where founders of Buddhism, Jainism and Bonpo religions once meditated and resided. Hindus and Buddhists all over the world also worship this peak as the exact "Center of the Universe" while Jain believe that their first Saint obtains Liberation: “Freedom” meditating at Kangri. Hindu people believe Mt. Kailash/Kangri to be the abode of supreme Hindu God Lord Shiva and his wife Parvati. The arduous pilgrimage to Kailash is done by Hindus to attain salvation while for Buddhist the journey helps to achieve enlightenment and spread world peace. Vajrayana Buddhists called the mountain Mount Meru and believe that Kangri as the home of the Demchok, who represent supreme bliss.

Manasarovar Lake, called Mapam Yumtso by Tibetans, lays just beside the sacred Mount Kailash. The word “Manas” means mind or consciousness and “Sarovar” means Lake, hence it is defined as the Lake of Consciousness. Hindu worships it as the bathing lake of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati and Circumambulation Lake is believed to be purging one’s soul of sins and the body of sickness. Similarly, Buddhists believe Mapam Yumtso to be Lake Anavatapta where Buddha was conceived by his mother Maya. Along the lake’s shore is the ancient Chiu Monastery that is a revered spot for meditation.

27 August 2025 Day 02: A guided holy sightseeing tour of Kathmandu valley is scheduled for today. In the morning, breakfast is served before the guided holy tour begins. It is said that Kailashnath Mahadev is one of the tallest temples and statue of Shiva in Nepal. Besides the Garuda Wisnu Kencana Statue in Bali, Indonesia, this is the second tallest Hindu deity statue in the world. A temple dedicated to Shiva called Kailashnath can be found about 20 kilometers east of Kathmandu in Sanga, Nepal. This statue stands 144 feet / 44 meters high, and it was influenced by copper, zinc, cement, and steel. In today's world, devotees come here every day to pray and see the holy site and this place is very popular. As part of our company's current program, we have included holy sightseeing in Kathmandu as well. Doleshwor Mahadev for Darshan and pray for Kailash Manasarovar Yatra / tour after visiting Kailashnath. The temple of Doleshwor is a short drive away.

Visit Doleshwor / Doleshwor Mahadev Temple) for all the Shiva devotees, it is believed that the trip to Kailash is incomplete without visiting Doleshwor Mahadev and Pashupatinath temple. On Aug. 22, 2009, the Doleshwor Mahadev was officially declared as the head of Kedarnath, one of the Char Dham Yatra. All in the year 2013, after the devastating flood hit the temple of Kedarnath, situated in Uttarkhand, the regular prayers that were interrupted were carried out in Doleshwor Temple. The head priest of Kedarnath Temple requested regular prayers that used to be held in the Kedarnath Temple to be held in the Doleshwor Mahadev Temple.

Buddhist Temple, Boudhanath Stupa: Named after its immense stupa, Buddha is a pilgrimage destination for Tibetans. Devotees stroll around the gleaming white dome adorned with painted Buddha eyes and visit nearby monasteries and schools for prayers and seminars. Boudhanath is a stupa in Kathmandu, Nepal. Located about 10 km from the center and northeastern outskirts of Kathmandu, the stupa's massive mandala makes it one of the largest spherical stupas in Nepal. UNISCO has designated it as a world heritage site in Nepal.

Visit Gujeswari (Guhyeshori) Saktipeeth temple. Among Astha Matrilas (Eight mother Goddesses) she mother of all. She is worshiped by Hindu and Buddhist both. According to Pauranik Katha Hindu legend. Lord Shiva’s 1st consort SATI DEVI offered by some insult of her husband Shiva dropped herself into YAGYAAKUND (A religious fire ceremony) Load Shiva’s retrieved her, fire burned corpse senseless him by grief and flew to and fro across Nepal and the Indian subcontinent. SATI DEVI’s body scattered in 51 Saktipeeth. Guhyeshori is a place where her secret part (GOPYA) vagina, some says her anus fell to which we call Guhyeshori. She protects deities of Kathmandu valley as well. Back to hotel and take vegetarian buffet lunch.

28 August 2025 Day 03: Kailash pilgrims are taken to Pashupatinath temple early in the morning for Rudra Consecration, which includes Rudrabhishek, Hawan, and Aarati. A total of eleven priests prepares for fire offering Hawan in the Pavilion (Mandap) and perform Sankalpa Pooja in the beginning followed by Swastibachan (preaching), Nyas, Rudra preaching, and Mahamritunjaya (death victory) Pooja.

The word 'Rudra', which means 'fearful Lord Shiva', has been derived from Rudrabhishek, Rudranti Iti Rudri, and Rudhiryoge Metal. We perform religious hymns to God Shiva in order to escape people from all these miseries of life and grant them justice, good health, prosperity, peace, and salvation. Rudri is done for a peaceful life and that's why it's done. For pilgrims on the Kailash tour, the first thing they do is visit Pashupatinath and worship there. The practice of worshipping Lord Pashupatinath and performing Aarati grants devotees all kinds of good merit. It is for this reason that the Kailash Tour is considered complete only after a holy visit to Pashupatinath.

One of the most important pilgrimage sites in the world is Kailash Manasarovar. Even more than 12 Jyothirlinga and Shiva temples, Kailash is a pilgrimage site. Lord Shiva is superior even to Gods in this Universe and Kailash is His dwelling place. Humans are superior to Souls, Sages are superior to Humans, Gods are superior to Sages and Gods are superior to Gods. The Kailash Pilgrimage is considered to be the centerpiece of every pilgrimage. Performing the Rudra (Shiva's idol) Consecration and fire offering (Hawan). Lord Pashupatinath is a popular religious tradition to wish for a successful Kailash Tour. You can join Panchamrit Pooja in Pashupatinath temple every day from 9:30 AM to 11 AM Bhatta pujari after Rudrabhishek. It is a payable offering in the temple with a Pooja Thali, milk, Rudrashe mala, flower garland and a lamp. Priest receives it from devotee. As Pashupatinath offers Panchamrit Pooja for load, he fulfills all the wishes for the Kailash Manasarovar Yatra. Getting Prasad and Rudrashe mala concludes the ceremony. Hindu devotees are the only ones who are allowed to perform this Pooja. There are no other religions allowed in the main gets. After Pashupatinath temple, drive to Jal Narayan for holy sightseeing.

Budhanilkantha (Jal Narayan), portrays a sleeping Vishnu, floating like a gigantic astronaut on a bed of snakes in the middle of a big pool of water depicting the cosmic ocean. The name Budhanilkantha has nothing to do with Buddha, but literally means “blue throat disguised by mud”. The peculiar name refers to two legends attached to the statue, one of them saying that a farmer found the long lost statue in the mud when working his field with a plough and the other saying that Vishnu sacrificed himself by drinking the poison of the cosmic ocean, which then turned his throat blue.

29 August 2025Day 04: After having breakfast in the hotel at Kathmandu, we move towards Tribhuvan International Airport at around 8:30 am. 30 August 2025 Day 05:Located in the heart of Tibet, Lhasa is both its capital and largest city. With wide streets and sky kissing buildings, this city is no less attractive than any developed western country. In addition to this, there is the palace of the Dalai Lama. Besides the Potala Palace, you should also visit the Jokhang temple / monastery at Bharkor Bazaar, the Bharkor Bazaar itself, and the Bharkhor Monastery. The altitude of Lhasa City is 3,600 meters above sea level. Located in the central part of Lhasa city, the Potala Palace stands 150 meters tall. There is also a meditative office building and an administrative office building adjacent to this palace. The Red Palace displays a variety of magical Buddha idols of Buddhist religion, whereas the White Palace contains a Meditation Room, Living Room, and Meeting Room for foreign guests of the Dalai Lama. Transparency is symbolized by the white palace. The Tibetan language refers to Lhasa as a 'Land of Gods and Goddesses'. The city of Lhasa is located in a valley that adjoins two sacred rivers, the Lhasa and Brahmaputra. Buddhists believe that having divine view (Darshan) of Potala Palace and Jokhang Monastery at least once in life can help one attain 'Nirvana', meaning ultimate salvation.

The Potala Palace:  The Potala Palace was built at the time of Songtsan Gampo in the 7th century; the 5th Dalai Lama extended the palace to its present size. Likewise, experts say that the funeral rites of 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th Dalai Lama was done at Zokhang Monastery and then the ashes were kept safely there. There are one thousand rooms at The Potala Palace among which a 27 rooms are been exposed for general public such as, Bed Room, Living Room, Study Room, Meeting Room and The Entombment Place of Dalai Lama. Information of Manasarovar
Manasarovar Lake, also known as Brahma’s Lake or Mapam Yumtso Lake is situated at an elevation of 4850 meter above sea level. The word “Manas” means mind or consciousness and Sarovar means Lake. It has held deep spiritual influence and wide religious values among Hindus & Buddhists. Making round the Lake and taking a holy bath in it is believed to purge one’s soul from sins and the body from sickness. Ancient Hindu scriptures indicate this Lake as a must visit place for someone who wants to attain salvation - the highest level of achievement in Hindu religion. The cascading waves of the Lake in the wind look very charming.

As described in Ramayana, it is said that the person who moves around the Manasarovar Lake and baths with its pure water, reaches heaven directly after death. Similarly, it is written that the person, who drinks the water of this lake, recognizes the “Shivalok” , the palace of Lord Shiva. Kailash Parbat is situated about 58km. far in the north from Manasarovar Lake. Brahmaputra River flows from eastward of the Manasarovar Lake. So, many people want to visit Kailash Parbat and Manasarovar Lake at least once in their life.

According to Hindu traditional hearsay, it is believed that Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati take bath each day at 2 AM to 4 AM in this Lake as well as stars also come for bath in Manasarovar Lake. It is said that pilgrims who stay at this place at night; they can live and watch God there. Mainly it is believed that people can see or visit the God Shiva and Goddess Parvati at the night of full moon. This Manasarovar Lake covers a very large area that is pure, it is mentioned in Hindu religious books that all the Hindus must reach there at least once in their lifetime.

Rakshas Tal (Demon King Ravana Lake) Sarovar
This lake is named on the basis of Hindu traditional story. Hindu people believe that carnivorous monsters are hiding into the dark water. On the basis of this belief, people called it Rakshas Tal and stay away from this lake believing it as the symbol of dark and destructive power. According to the traditional religious story, the water of this lake is poisonous and fatal. So, to replace the poisonous water of this lake a tunnel was made from Manasarovar Lake. The pure water of this lake and a golden fish was sent in this lake. Late, this fish was found alive. From it, people’s negative attitude towards the lake changed and they started to go nearer to it but they still don’t drink the water.
According to Hindu mythology, in Treta Yug the monster Ravana has made Lord Shiva happy meditating in this Lake. Rakshas Lake lies in the west to Manasarovar Lake. It is situated at an altitude of 4,540meter above the sea level. In Manasarovar Lake, there are many birds including ducks but in Rakshas Lake there are no any birds at all.

Mount Kailash
The Scared religious place, Kailash Parbat is located on the height of 6714meters above sea level. This region is supposed to be the purest religious place. It is supposed to be the central part of the world and origin of the world before the origin of Hinduism, Jainism and Buddhism. Kailash Parbat is glorified in the holy books like Ramayana and Mahabharata. According to the ancient Asian stories, the civilization is incomplete without the description of Kailash Parbat. Kailash Parbat is located in Tibet. Scientific research of this region is not satisfactory. This religious Parbat is extended from Brahmaputra in the east to Karakoram in the west.

Different religious groups like Shaiba, Hindu, Buddhist, Jain and Bon-Po are respecting Kailash equally, though they explained it differently. In the Shaiba and Buddhist traditional literature, Kailash is described as the part of Sumeru which is supposed to be the center of the world. It is believed to be the residence of Lord Shiva and his wife Parvati as per Hindus. Buddhist respects it in the name of Kang Rimpoche. Buddhists have accepted Kailash and Manasarovar as great natural Mandala. Mandala for them is the means of respect and salvation. Jain worship as Aspada for this isolated peak. The founding father of this religion Rishavadev had got spiritual salvation in the same place.

There are various logics to claim this Parbat as sacred. This isolated Parbat is also source to big rivers like, Brahmaputra, Satlaj, Indus and Karnali. The total periphery of Mount Kailash is 53 km and pilgrims should walk 38 km within 3 days and if add Charan Sparsh (Touch Kailash) tour than it will be 4 days Kora. As described in Hindu myth, a person who moves around the Kailash Parbat will be free from all the sins made in life time. If they move round the Parbat for 108 times, they directly get Nirvana. It is also said that a person who moves Nandi once, he/she gets return as equal of moving round the Kailash for 13 times.

Kailash Parvat is regarded as the form of Lord Shiva and the water flowing from its snowy tip is worshipped as holy river Ganges. Mount Kailash can be observed more beautifully from the side of this Monastery. Observing from Dirapuk, Mount Kailash is seen in between Mount Manjushree at right side and Mount Bajrapani at left side.
River Ganges, originated from Mount Kailash meets Lachhu River and gets mixed into Rakshas Lake. Every river formed from Kailash Himalayan Ranges gets mixed into Rakshas Lake. The river formed from the junction of Rakshas Lake is called Karnali. Water from Rakshas Lake escapes via Karnali River but water of Manasarovar is stored in the form of Lake.

04 September 2025 Day 10: Darchen to Yam Dwar & Dirapuk: This is the first day of Kailash Parikrama/Kora. Morning drive to Yam Dwar and start walking to Dirapuk (4890 meters/11 kilometers). We do start for Kailash circumambulation [kora] Circuit/Round/Parikrama from Yam Dwar. It takes 20 minutes for blue bus to reach there as it is at the distance of only 6km. This place is also known as Yam Dwar. Getting off from the bus at Yam Dwar, all the pilgrims are offering to Lord Shiva. Then, we moved round the Yam Dwar for three times. According to Hindu religion, this place is known as the Gate of the God of Death (Yam Dwar). Yam Dwar build shape of temple. Inside 3 bells hanging and its call Barma, Vishnu and Maheshwar. This temple makes 3-time circuit enter inside of door. Belling and get out and continue walking or riding pony to Dirapuk first day of Parikrama (circuit). (Journey on foot begins from Yam Dwar) Physically disable pilgrims distantly pay homage to Kailash Parbat and return to Darchen because the visit of Yam Dwar is believed to get equally religious gain as they do for Kailash Parbat itself. This path/trail is somehow busy with pilgrims, horses, local porters, yaks and Nepali workers.

After 3 hours long walking along the riverside path, we stopped for our lunch sport. Kailash Parbat is can be seeing clearly from here. Below the Parbat we can see a big stone in the shape of elephant. It is believed that God Indra rides on it. After 2 hours long walk, we can reach to Dirapuk. There is a Dirapuk Monastery situated on the edge of Lha Chhu River. The name of this place is given from the name of Monastery itself. This Monastery is located on the height of 4900m. Above sea level. The scene of Kailash from here is like the heaven. Hundreds of pilgrims arrive at Dirapuk from Yam Dwar riding on the horse or on their foot every day.

Here some Yatri prefer to take pony & local porter for the 4 days. (If you would like to take pony and porter, you should tell the Tibetan guide in advance for arrangement. This day, today have to walk continuously for about 5 to 6 hours. Yak will carry all our goods and equipment and your bags. From Dirapuk, you can see north face of Mt. Kailash very closed, overnight stay at Dirapuk mud house/ guesthouse.

05 September 2025 Day 11: After breakfast, Pilgrims walk for 4 hours (6kms) from Dirapuk to touch the feet of Mount Kailash which is known as Charan Sparsh. They feel like they have been blessed by Lord Shiva by actually touching the base of Kailash Mountain. Pilgrims offer Pooja and seek blessing from lord Shiva. While returning back, takes around one and half hour to 2 hours and it is day tour / Yatra from Dirapuk.

“Charan” means “feet” and “Sparsh” means “to touch”. Together they meaning to touch one’s feet”. It has been a tradition since time immemorial to touch the feet of Kailash Parbat. There is a scientific basis to “Charan Sparsh”. Since the human body is releasing vibrations touching the feet which encourages flow of energy and blessings, happiness and successful life. This exchange of energy gives one vigor, self-confidence and contentment. One experiences an inner glow. The blessings received after “Charan Sparsh” are like invisible amour. They motivate and give strength.

06 September 2025 Day 12: It is a very crucial day for us, as we have to cross Dolma La or Dorma La Pass, which is 5636 meters above sea level. The weather in Dolma La Pass is unpredictable with snowstorms possible at times. Our journey should begin as early as possible in the morning. We pass Ganesh Kund and Gauri Kund lakes on the way. To reach Zuthulpuk monastery, descend Shapje Datok pass. A mud house is a great place to stay overnight in Zuthulpuk.

GANESH KUND (SAROVAR)
About 45 minutes before to reach to Dolma La Pass 5636m. (Kailash circuit) on right hand side of the walking trail, there is holy Ganesh Kund. It is 15 minute away from walking trail. The shape of the Kund looks like lord Ganesh where he bathes.

Health Precaution

At higher altitudes, oxygen is less abundant. Certain illnesses are generally not encountered on the plains due to the inclement weather and high altitude. Headache, nausea, lassitude, lethargy, breathlessness, general uneasiness [malaise], high irritability, disorientation, incoherence, and insomnia are some of the symptoms. All people are affected by it regardless of their age, gender, or physical condition. The best solution is gradual acclimatization. You should deliberately slow down all the activities and consider the following suggestions.

  • Don't exert yourself, be excited, and rest if necessary
  • On the way, reduce the amount of time you spend talking to each other
  • Slow walking requires one third of your speed and space.
  • Make sure your load is light.
  • Spend 30 minutes walking and 5 minutes resting
  • Rest and relax whenever you feel uncomfortable.
  • Be aware of sudden outbursts from fellow pilgrims and avoid arguments.
  • Silence should be observed with a smile.
  • It's never a good idea to go too fast or too high.
  • Never proceed on an empty stomach; drink plenty of liquids.
  • Listen to your favorite music, Bhajans, chanting, etc., while you chant a prayer or visualize everything around you.
  • It is better to be overclothed than under protected if you don't want to catch a cold. Avoid taking a bath or drinking water from lakes or rivers en-route, as your system is not accustomed to this.
  • When driving long distances, protect yourself from dust and direct sunlight. It is important to protect your face, feet, and hands.
  • There are lots of potholes on the uneven ground, steep slope, and slushy banks. Combining walking with sightseeing is not a good idea.
  • You should always listen to your guide or someone with experience. Keep the group together at all times.
  • Drink plenty of fluids and avoid overexertion during this trip.
