Full moon night in Manasarovar Lake on 10 July 2025 (Guru Purnima)

The Kailash Manasarovar in Tibet is considered sacred by Hindus, Buddhists, Jain, Tibetans, Bonpo and Sikhs. According to different religions, Mount Kailash (6714m.) is known by different names, has different meanings and serves different purposes. Both Hinduism and Buddhism view it as the center of the universe, while Jains believe that it was on this mountain that their first saint attained Liberation/Freedom. Hindu believe Mount Kailash is the abode of Lord Shiva and his wife Parvati. In Hinduism, Mount Kailash is regarded as a holy place that purifies one of all sins and leads to salvation.

Pilgrimage to Mount Kailash Manasarovar is regarded by Buddhists as a way to spread world peace and reach enlightenment. The Vajrayana Buddhist tradition refers to Kailash as Mount Meru, the home of Demchok, the embodiment of supreme bliss.  There is a lake called Manasarovar Lake just outside sacred Mount Kailash known to Tibetans as Mapam Yumtso. The Buddhists believe Mapam to be the Lake of Anavatapta, where Buddha's mother Maya Devi gave birth to him. The ancient Chiu Monastery perched on the shoreline of the Lake is an ideal place to meditate.

As with Kailash, it is a place of great spiritual significance as well as a place of widespread religious belief among the four major religions. Every year, Monterosa Treks & Expeditions organizes a very pleasant and smooth Yatra to Mount Kailash and Manasarovar Lake for pilgrims and travelers from around the world. 03 July 2025 Day 02: A guided holy sightseeing tour of Kathmandu valley is scheduled for today. In the morning, breakfast is served before the guided holy tour begins. It is said that Kailashnath Mahadev is one of the tallest temples and statue of Shiva in Nepal. Besides the Garuda Wisnu Kencana Statue in Bali, Indonesia, this is the second tallest Hindu deity statue in the world. A temple dedicated to Shiva called Kailashnath. The place of Saga can be found about 20 kilometers east of Kathmandu, Nepal. This statue stands 144 feet / 44 meters high, and it was influenced by copper, zinc, cement, and steel. In today's world, devotees come here every day to pray and see the holy site and this place is very popular. As part of our company's current program, we have included holy sightseeing in Kathmandu as well. Doleshwor Mahadev for Darshan and pray for Kailash Manasarovar Yatra / tour after visiting Kailashnath tour operator. The temple of Doleshwor is a short drive away.

Visit Doleshwor / Doleshwor Mahadev. A visit to Kailash Manasarovar is incomplete without visiting Pashupatinath and Doleshwor Mahadev temples in Kathmandu. Doleshwor Mahadev was officially declared the head of Kedarnath. The regular prayers at Doleshwor Temple were disrupted after a devastating flood hit Kedarnath Temple in Uttarkhand in 2013. The Kedarnath Temple head priest requested that regular prayers be held at the Doleshwor Mahadev Temple instead of Kedarnath Temple. Due to this, this day has become very popular with Hindu deities and they come here to pay and get their Darshan.  Drive back to hotel for Lunch.

Buddhist Temple Boudhanath Stupa: After lunch, visit Boudhanath Buddha Temple. Tibetans consider Buddha to be a pilgrimage destination named for its enormous stupa. Devotees stroll around the gleaming white dome adorned with painted Buddha eyes while praying and attending seminars in nearby monasteries. One of the most famous tourist attractions in Nepal is Boudhanath stupa in Kathmandu. Located about 10 km northeast of Kathmandu's city center and northeastern outskirts, the stupa is Nepal's largest spherical stupa. Stupas dominate the skyline of this city, including the Buddha Stupa, one of the largest in the world. What is the purpose of showing you the Buddhist temple Boudhanath? The religion considers Buddha to be one of Vishnu's nine carnations. Boudhanath includes World heritage side in Nepal. Visit Sakti pith Gujewari Mata after Boudhanath in the afternoon.

Visit Gujeswari / Guhyeshwari: She is the mother of all the Astha Matrilas (Eight mother goddesses) and is located one kilometer away from Pashupatinath temple on the east side. Hindus and Buddhists worship her differently. According to the Hindu legend Pauranik Katha, this is the case. As the 1st consort of Lord Shiva, SATI DEVI, dropped herself into YAGYAAKUND (a religious fire ceremony), Shiva retrieved her and burnt his corpse. A senseless flight across Nepal and India ensued out of grief. The body of SATI DEVI was scattered across 51 Shakti Peeth. Our term Guhyeshwari refers to the secret part (GOPYA) vagina where her secret part falls. Aside from that, she is responsible for protecting Kathmandu valley's deities. In order to visit Kailash Manasarovar Yatri, it is extremely important

04 July 2025 Day 03: Kailash pilgrims are taken to Pashupatinath temple early in the morning for Rudra Consecration, which includes Rudrabhishek, Hawan and Aarati. A total of eleven priests prepares for fire offering Hawan in the Pavilion (Mandap) and perform Sankalpa Pooja in the beginning followed by Swastibachan (preaching), Nyas, Rudra preaching, and Mahamritunjaya (death victory) Pooja.

The word 'Rudra', which means 'fearful Lord Shiva', has been derived from Rudrabhishek, Rudranti Iti Rudri and Rudhiryoge Metal. We perform religious hymns to God Shiva in order to escape people from all these miseries of life and grant them justice, good health, prosperity, peace, and salvation. Rudri is done for a peaceful life and that's why it's done. For pilgrims on the Kailash tour, the first thing they do is visit Pashupatinath and worship there. The practice of worshipping Lord Pashupatinath and performing Aarati grants devotees all kinds of good merit. It is for this reason that the Kailash Tour is considered complete only after a holy visit to Pashupatinath temple.

One of the most important pilgrimage sites in the world is Kailash Manasarovar. Even more than 12th Jyothirlinga and Shiva temples, Kailash Manasarovar is a pure pilgrimage site. Lord Shiva is superior even to Gods in this Universe and Shiva is his dwelling place. Humans are superior to Souls, Sages are superior to Humans, Gods are superior to Sages and Gods are superior to Gods. The Kailash Pilgrimage is considered to be the centerpiece of every pilgrimage. Performing the Rudra (Shiva's idol) Consecration and fire offering (Hawan) to Lord Pashupatinath is a popular religious tradition to wish for a successful Kailash Yatra. You can join Panchamrit Pooja in Pashupatinath temple every day from 9:30 AM to 11 AM Bhatta pujari after Rudrabhishek. It is a payable offering in the temple with a Pooja Thali, milk, Rudrashe mala, flower garland, and a lamp. Priest receives it from devotee. As Pashupatinath offers Panchamrit Pooja for load he fulfills all the wishes for the Kailash Manasarovar Yatra. Getting Prasad and Rudrashe mala concludes the ceremony. Hindu devotees are the only ones who are allowed to perform this Pooja. There are no other religions allowed in the main gets enter the temple of Pashupatinath. After completing All rituals in Pashupatinath, drive to Jal Narayan.

Budhanilkantha(Jal Narayan): we will start sightseeing with a holy guide to Budhanilkantha (Jal Narayan) Vishnu Temple in Budhanilkantha, Kathmandu, Nepal. In the Kathmandu valley, Budhanilkantha Temple is located below Shivapuri Hill and is easily identified by its large Vishnu statue reclining. Shows Vishnu sleeping on a bed of snakes in a pool of water representing the cosmic ocean, floating like a giant astronaut. There is no connection between Budhanilkantha and Buddha, but it literally means "blue throat concealed by mud". The peculiar name refers to two legends attached to the statue, one stating that when a farmer worked his field with a plough, he discovered the long-lost statue and the other stating that Vishnu sacrificed himself by drinking the poison of the cosmic ocean, resulting in his throat turning blue. As mention also, as per Hindu legend, Budhanilkantha name means 'Old Blue Throat', the title given to Lord Shiva after drinking poison to save the world by the gods. As one of the three 'Tripuris', along with Brahma and Shiva, the statue symbolizes Lord Vishnu. Buddhist devotees highly revere this statue, which features a Buddha on its. In the form of a reclining Naga, it is believed to represent Avalokiteshvara. There are many who believe Budhanilkantha water can cure illnesses, especially wounds. Afterwards, return to the hotel and have lunch. The afternoon is free

There is also the Dalai Lama's palace, besides the Potala Palace, you should also visit the nearby Bharkor Bazaar. The altitude of Lhasa City is 3,600 meters above sea level. Located in the central part of Lhasa city, the Potala Palace stands 150 meters tall from the city. There is also a meditative office building and an administrative office building adjacent to this palace. The Red Palace displays a variety of magical Buddha idols of Buddhist religion, whereas the white Palace contains a Meditation Room, Living Room, and Meeting Room for foreign guests of the Dalai Lama. Transparency is symbolized by the white palace. The Tibetan language refers to Lhasa as a 'Land of Gods and Goddesses'. The city of Lhasa is located in a valley that adjoins two sacred rivers, the Lhasa and Brahmaputra. Having divine view (Darshan) of Potala Palace, at least once in life is believed to attain 'Nirvana', which means ultimate salvation.

The Potala Palace:  It was constructed during the reign of Songtsen Gampo in the 7th century, and was enlarged by the 5th Dalai Lama. Additionally, it becomes the main political and religious palace of the Dalai Lama at this time. The main palace was divided into two sections: the red palace and the white palace. In addition to living quarters, temples, tomb stupas and monk dormitories, it stands 115,703 meters high. There are countless cultural relics in the palace, such as images, murals, sutras, etc., all of which are extraordinarily valuable. Besides being classified as national treasures, these magnificent Tibetan arts and culture are also listed by the state council as one of the important cultural relics to be protected.

Potala Palace contains gold-plated entombment places for the 5th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th, and 13th Dalai Lama. In addition to the 13th Dalai Lama's statue, all of these can be seen. The location of the entombment of the 6th Dalai Lama is unknown and mysterious. According to experts, the ashes of the first, second, third, and fourth Dalai Lama were kept at Jokhang Monastery after their funeral rites. Potala Palace has one thousand rooms of which 27 are open to the public and tourists, such as the Bed Room, Living Room, Study Room, Meeting Room, and the Entombment Place of Dalai Lama. Local residents take three days to circumambulate, but tourists and pilgrims take five days or more. There is a place called Hor (place of Name) from where one circumambulates Manasarovar Lake. We have to change tourists here and take the Blue Bus organized by the Nangri Tourism Board around Manasarovar Lake and beyond, but there are some times no blue buses, so we will take the same bus as from Lhasa. The journey to Manasarovar Lake begins with a hot lunch box and a stop for lunch approximately two hours before the full rotation. As you circumambulate, get to the top of the hill before reaching Chiu monastery to see Rakshas Lake and Manasarovar Lake simultaneously. All our Kailash Yatri is staying Manasarovar Lake near by Chiu monastery. Full moon night in Manasarovar Lake (Guru Purnima)

Manasarovar Lake
At an elevation of 4850 meters above sea level, Manasarovar Lake is also known as Brahma's Lake or Mapam Yum Tso Lake by Tibetans. "Manas" means mind or consciousness, and "Sarovar" means Lake. A wide range of religious values are associated with Hinduism and Buddhism as well as a deep spiritual influence. Making a round of the Lake and taking a holy bath in it is believed to cleanse one of sin and sickness. As per ancient Hindu scriptures, this lake is a must-visit place for those seeking salvation, the highest achievement in Hinduism. The cascading waves of the Lake are very charming in the wind.  When one bathes in the pure water of Manasarovar Lake, he or she will pass directly into heaven after death, according to the Ramayana.
To the north of Manasarovar Lake is Kailash Parbat, located 58 kilometers away. From Manasarovar Lake, the Brahmaputra River flows eastward. It is also believed that stars bathe in the lake. Pilgrims are said to see God at this location during the night, according to a myth. Full moon nights are considered to be good times to see or visit Shiva and Parvati. In Hindu religious books, all Hindus are instructed to visit Kailash Manasarovar Lake at least once in their lifetimes because it covers a large and pure area. Purification is believed to occur when one drinks the water of Manasarovar and washes away all their sins.

Rakshas Tal (Demon King Ravana Lake) Sarovar
A Hindu traditional history is reflected in the name of this lake. There are carnivorous monsters in the dark waters, according to Hindu mythology. This belief led people to name it Rakshas Tal and stay away from the lake, believing it to be a symbol of darkness and destruction. It is said that the water of this lake is poisonous and fatal according to the traditional religious story. A tunnel was built from Manasarovar Lake to replace the poisonous water of this lake. The pure water of this lake and a golden fish were sent here.

It was later discovered that this fish was still alive. As a result, people's negative attitude toward the lake changed and they started going nearer to it, but they still don't drink it. Hindu mythology says that Ravana meditated in this lake during the Treta Yug, making Lord Shiva happy. The Rakshas Lake lies west of the Manasarovar Lake. Manasarovar Lake has many birds, including ducks, whereas Rakshas Lake has none.

11 July 2025 Day 10: Today will do spiritual rituals day.  From 2018 AD, pilgrims will no longer be allowed to take holy dips in Lake Manasarovar. We put a large tent inside and the tent by the holy water of Manasarovar for holy baths. Drums will be placed inside water by staff. The pilgrim offers Tarpon / holy water offering, flowers, and money to God after bathing. During the worship, Nepali Pandit will perform Rudrabhishek, Hawan, Aarati, and chant Shiva mantra.

Braman Pandit, who is providing our company with these services from Kathmandu. All the pilgrims can do prey for Lord Shiva and reciting the names of their ancestral gods, performing Hawan (offering grains mixed with butter to the fire) in the name of gods, so as to cleanse themselves of any kind of sins they might have committed knowingly or unknowingly. After finishing all spiritual activities, take lunch, then drive to Darchen which is 40KM away from Manasarovar Lake and takes an hour. Mount Kailash has its base camp at Darchen. Kailash circuit starts and ends here, 53km in length. Darchen is where you will spend the night.

Mount Kailash
Kailash Parbat is one of the most sacred religious places in the world and is situated 6714 meters above sea level. According to legend, this region is the purest place for religious worship. As the center of the world before Hinduism's origin, it is believed to be the origin of the world. The Jainism and Buddhism religions. Ramayana and Mahabharata glorify Kailash Parbat. It is impossible to describe Kailash Parbat without referring to ancient Asian mythologies. Kailash Parbat is the home of Shiva and Mata Parvati. There is a lack of satisfactory scientific research in this region.

Kailash is respected equally by different religious groups, including Shaiba, Hindu, Buddhist, Jain and Bon-Po.  Kailash is described in Shaiba and Buddhist traditional literature as the center of the world, part of Sumeru. It is revered as Kang Rimpoche by Buddhists. As great natural Mandalas, Kailash and Manasarovar are revered by Buddhists. A Mandala is a symbol of respect and salvation for them. This isolated peak is worshipped by Jain as Aspada. This is the same place where Rishavadev, the founder of this religion and received spiritual salvation. There are various logics to claim this Parbat as sacred. This isolated Parbat is also a source to big rivers like Brahmaputra, Satlaj, Indus and Karnali.

Considering Mount Kailash's perimeter is 53 km, pilgrims should walk 38 km in three days, and if they add the Charan Sparsh (Touch Kailash) tour, it will be a four-day trek with a total perimeter of 61 kilometers.  Hindu mythology describes a person who moves around the Kailash Parbat as being free of all sins committed during their lifetime. Nirvana is directly achieved if they move around the Parbat 108 times. A person who moves Nandi once gets a return equivalent to moving around the Kailash 13 times. Its snowy tip is worshipped as the holy river Ganges and its water is regarded as the form of Lord Shiva. It is more beautiful to observe Mount Kailash from the side of the Dirapuk Monastery. Mount Kailash appears between Mount Manjushree on the right and Mount Bajrapani on the left as seen from Dirapuk. The Ganges River originates at Mount Kailash and meets Lachhu River before mixing with Rakshas Lake. The Kailash Himalayan Ranges from some rivers that flow into Rakshas Lake. The Karnali River flows from the junction of Rakshas Lake. Rakshas Lake's water escapes through the Karnali River, but Manasarovar water is stored in a lake.

12 July 2025 Day 11:This is the first day of Kailash Parikrama/Kora from Darchen to Yam Dwar & Dirapuk.  Drive to Yam Dwar in the morning and walk to Dirapuk (4890 meters/12 kilometers). The Kailash circumambulation [kora] circuit/round/Parikrama begins at Yam Dwar. Blue bus takes 20 minutes to reach there. since it is only 6 kilometers away. It is also known as Yam Dwar. All the pilgrims are offering to Lord Shiva when they get off the bus at Yam Dwar. After that, we circled the Yam Dwar three times. Yam Dwar (Gate of the God of Death) is the name given to this place by Hindus. The temple shape is built by Yam Dwar. Inside 3 bells hanging and its call Barma, Vishnu and Maheshwar. After belling, get out and walk or ride a pony to Dirapuk on the first day of the Parikrama.

Physically disabled pilgrims return to Darchen after paying homage to Kailash Parbat distantly on foot because Yam Dwar's visit is thought to bring equal religious gain as Kailash Parbat's. A lot of pilgrims, horses, porters, yaks and Nepali workers are on this path/trail. We stopped for lunch after walking along the riverside path for three hours. From here, Kailash Parbat can be seen clearly. We can see an elephant-shaped stone below the Parbat. There is a belief that it is ridden by God Indra. After 2 hours long walk, we can reach to Dirapuk.  The Dirapuk Monastery is situated on the banks of the Lha Chhu River. This place gets its name from the Monastery itself. The Monastery is located at a height of 4900m. Above sea level. From here, Kailash appears as if it were in heaven. Every day, hundreds of pilgrims arrive at Dirapuk from Yam Dwar riding their horses or walking. Some Yatri prefers to take a pony and local porter for the 4 days.  Please inform the Tibetan guide in advance if you wish to take a pony and porter. It will take me about five to six hours to walk continuously today. All of our goods and equipment, as well as your bags, will be carried by Yak. It is possible to see the north face of Mount Kailash from Dirapuk and you can stay overnight at the Dirapuk mud house/guesthouse.

13 July 2025 Day 12: After breakfast, pilgrims walk 4 hours (4km) from Dirapuk to Mount Kailash, also known as Charan Sparsh. When they touch the Kailash Mountain base, they feel as if they have been blessed by Lord Shiva. In order to seek Shiva's blessing, pilgrims perform Pooja. As for the return, it takes between one and a half hours and two hours and it is considered a day trip / Yatra from Dirapuk.

The word "Charan" means "feet" and the word "Sparsh" means "to touch". "To touch one's feet" means to touch one's feet together. Touching the feet of Kailash Parbat has been a tradition since ancient times. "Charan Sparsh" has a scientific basis. It is believed that the human body releases vibrations that touch the feet, which facilitates the flow of energy and blessings, happiness, and success. Having this exchange of energy gives one vigor, self-confidence, and contentment. A glow emanates from within. After "Charan Sparsh", blessings are like invisible amour. Motivation and strength are provided by them.

14 July 2025 Day 13:It is a very crucial day for us, as we have to cross Dolma La or Dorma La Pass, which is 5636 meters above sea level. The weather in Dolma La Pass is unpredictable, with snowstorms possible at times. Our journey should begin as early as possible in the morning. We pass Ganesh Kund and Gauri Kund lakes on the way. To reach Zuthulpuk monastery, descend Shapje Datok pass. A mud house is a great place to stay overnight.

GANESH KUND (SAROVAR)
There is a holy Ganesh Kund on the right-hand side of the walking trail about 45 minutes before reaching the Dolma La Pass 5636m., (Kailash circuit). Walking trails are 15 minutes away. Kund's shape resembles that of Ganesh's bathing place.

THE LEGEND OF GAURI KUND
Hindu mythology mentions Gauri Kund or Parvati Kund after crossing Dormala La by Purana legend, which is Sanatana Dharma.  As per the Puran, Gauri Sarovar purifies the mind, body, and speech of Kailash Yatri. Most Yatri of Kailash Manasarovar tours include their tour program. As part of the holy bath to Goddess Parvati Mata, this Gauri Kund is where Gauri Mata acquired her beloved son Ganesh. She molded the image of her son Ganesh from cleaning agents frothing on her body and revived it.

To prevent unknown from entering her holy deep, she placed Ganesh along the path. Meanwhile, Lord Shiva arrived at Mt. Kailash, but Ganesh ji did not recognize him, so he became furious and cut off the child's head. Mata Parvati was devastated when she saw it and requested that Lord Shiva return the child to life, and she received her son back. Kailash Yatri is not the only one fascinated by this real story.

THE MEANING OR SIGNIFICANCE TO VISIT GAURI KUND.
Kailash Yatri visits this holy Kund during their Parikrama or Kora to purify their minds, bodies and speech by splashing the Jaal on their heads. To ensure peace in the heavens, they offer their ancestors TARPANA and Jaal (holy water). Their homes are often filled with holy water brought from the Kund.

WHERE IS THE GAURI KUND LOCATED?
At 5608m. above sea level, the turquoise-colored GAURI KUND is located after crossing steep descents of Dolma La pass, the highest pass during Kailash Manasarovar Yatra tour. There is no walking trail yet and one must walk on massif rock.

15 July 2025 Day 14: Walking to Chongdo takes about 3 hours, then driving to Darchen, Hor, Praying, Dongba, and finally Saga Bazaar for the night.

16 July 2025 Day 15: It takes 4 to 5 hours to drive from Saga to Kerung valley. In the Kerung valley, you will spend the night.

Health Precaution

At higher altitudes, oxygen is less abundant. Certain illnesses are generally not encountered on the plains due to the inclement weather and high altitude. Headache, nausea, lassitude, lethargy, breathlessness, general uneasiness [malaise], high irritability, disorientation, incoherence, and insomnia are some of the symptoms. All people are affected by it regardless of their age, gender, or physical condition. The best solution is gradual acclimatization. You should deliberately slow down all the activities and consider the following suggestions.

  • Don't exert yourself, be excited, and rest if necessary
  • On the way, reduce the amount of time you spend talking to each other
  • Slow walking requires one third of your speed and space.
  • Make sure your load is light.
  • Spend 30 minutes walking and 5 minutes resting
  • Rest and relax whenever you feel uncomfortable.
  • Be aware of sudden outbursts from fellow pilgrims and avoid arguments.
  • Silence should be observed with a smile.
  • It's never a good idea to go too fast or too high.
  • Never proceed on an empty stomach; drink plenty of liquids.
  • Listen to your favorite music, Bhajans, chanting, etc., while you chant a prayer or visualize everything around you.
  • It is better to be overclothed than under protected if you don't want to catch a cold. Avoid taking a bath or drinking water from lakes or rivers en-route, as your system is not accustomed to this.
  • When driving long distances, protect yourself from dust and direct sunlight. It is important to protect your face, feet, and hands.
  • There are lots of potholes on the uneven ground, steep slope, and slushy banks. Combining walking with sightseeing is not a good idea.
  • You should always listen to your guide or someone with experience. Keep the group together at all times.
  • Drink plenty of fluids and avoid overexertion during this trip.
