18 June 2025 Day 02: We will visit the Kathmandu valley today for guided holy sightseeing. Breakfast is served before the guided holy tour begins in the morning. There are many Shiva temples in Nepal, but Kailashnath Mahadev is one of the tallest statue and temple. The statue is the second tallest Hindu deity after the Garuda Wisnu Kencana Statue in Bali, Indonesia. The Kailashnath Shiva statue is located in Sanga, Nepal about 20 kilometers from Kathmandu. There are 144 feet / 44 meters of height on the statue, and it was influenced by copper, zinc, cement, and steel. Today, this place is very popular around the world and devotees come here every day to pray and see the holy site. Our company has also included a program for holy sightseeing in Kathmandu in its program so far. Visit Kailashnath and drive to Doleshwor Mahadev for Darshan and Pray for Kailash Manasarovar Yatra.
Visit Doleshwor / Doleshwor Mahadev. It is believed that a trip to Kailash Manasarovar is incomplete without visiting Doleshwor Mahadev and Pashupatinath temples in Kathmandu, Nepal. During the Char Dham Yatra, Doleshwor Mahadev was officially declared the head of Kedarnath. After the devastating flood hit the temple of Kedarnath, located in Uttarkhand, in 2013, the regular prayers at Doleshwor Temple were interrupted. It was requested by the Kedarnath Temple head priest that regular prayers be held in the Doleshwor Mahadev Temple instead of Kedarnath Temple. Thus, this day has become very popular with Hindu deities and they come here to pay and to get their Darshan for happiness. Drive to hotel and take lunch, rest while and visit Boudhanath Buddha Temple and Shaktipeeth Gujeswari Mata.
Buddhist Temple Boudhanath Stupa: For Tibetans, Buddha is a pilgrimage destination named after its immense stupa. In addition to praying and attending seminars in nearby monasteries, devotees stroll around the gleaming white dome adorned with painted Buddha eyes. Kathmandu's Boudhanath stupa is one of Nepal's most famous attractions. Nepal's largest spherical stupa, the stupa is located about 10 km from Kathmandu's city center and northeastern outskirts. One of the world's largest stupas, the Buddha Stupa dominates the skyline. Why do we want to show you the Buddhist temple Boudhanath? This is because it believes Buddha is one of the nine carnations of Vishnu. UNESSCO has designated Boudhanath as a World Heritage Site in Nepal. In the afternoon, visit Shaktipeeth Gujeswari Mata after Boudhanath.
Visit Gujeswari / Guhyeshwari: This temple is located in one 1 KM far from Pashupatinath temple east side, she is the mother of all the Astha Matrilas (Eight mother Goddesses). There are two types of worshipers of her: Hindus and Buddhists. This is according to the Hindu legend of Pauranik Katha. The 1st consort of Lord Shiva, SATI DEVI, dropped herself into YAGYAAKUND (a religious fire ceremony) and Shiva retrieved her, burned his corpse senseless out of grief and flew across Nepal and India. There is 51 Shakti Peeth where SATI DEVI's body is scattered. Guhyeshwari is the place where her secret part (GOPYA) vagina falls to which we call Guhyeshwari. In addition, she protects the deities of Kathmandu valley.
19 June 2025 Day 03: Early in the morning, Kailash pilgrims are taken to Pashupatinath temple for Rudra Consecration called Rudra Abhishek, Hawan and Aarati. Eleven Brahmins priests prepare for fire offering Hawan in Pavilion (Mandap) and do Sankalpa Pooja in the beginning followed by Swastibachan (Preaching), Nyas, Rudra preaching and Mahamritunjaya (Death victory) Pooja.
The word ‘Rudra’, meaning ‘Fearful Lord Shiva’ has come from Rudrabhishek, Rudranti Iti Rudri and Rudhiryoge Metal. It means there is pain, violence, greed among people on this Earth and we perform religious hymns in praise of God Shiva so that he escapes people from all these miseries of life and grants justice, good health, prosperity, peace and Salvation. This is why Rudri is done for Peaceful life. During the Kailash tour, visiting Pashupatinath and its worship is the first thing to do for pilgrims. It is believed that worshipping Lord Pashupatinath, doing Aarati grants all kinds of good merits to devotees. This is why the Kailash Tour is believed to be complete only after a holy visit to Pashupatinath.
Kailash Manasarovar is one of the most important pilgrimage sites. Kailash is a pilgrimage even 12 Jyothirlinga and Shiva Temples. In this Universe, Humans are superior to Soul, Sages are superior to Humans, Gods are superior to sages and Lord Shiva is superior even to Gods and Kailash is the dwelling place of supreme Lord Shiva. So, every pilgrimage is believed to be incomplete without the Kailash Pilgrimage. It is a popular religious trend to wish for a successful Kailash Tour by doing Rudra (Shiva’s idol) Consecration and fire offering (Hawan) to Lord Pashupatinath, which takes about 1 hour 30 minutes to 2 hours.
After Rudrabhishek, join Panchamrit Pooja in Pashupatinath temple every day 9:30 AM to 11 AM Bhatta pujari. Offering available in the temple but it is a payable Pooja and with Pooja Thali, milk, Rudrasha mala, flower garland and a lamp. Devotee offers it to the priest. By offering Panchamrit Pooja for load Pashupatinath fulfills all the desired wishes for the Kailash Manasarovar tour. The ceremony ends after getting Prasad and Rudrasha mala. This Pooja is available only Hindu devotees. Other religions are not allowed to enter main gets.
Afternoon around 2:30 PM start sightseeing with a holy guide to Budhanilkantha (Jal Narayan) Vishnu Temple located in Budhanilkantha, Nepal, is a Hindu open-air temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Budhanilkantha Temple is situated below the Shivapuri Hill at the northern end of the Kathmandu valley & can be identified by a large reclining statue of Lord Vishnu.
Budhanilkantha (Jal Narayan), portrays a sleeping Vishnu, floating like a gigantic astronaut on a bed of snakes in the middle of a big pool of water depicting the cosmic ocean. The name Budhanilkantha has nothing to do with Buddha but literally means “blue throat disguised by mud”. The peculiar name refers to two legends attached to the statue, one of them saying that a farmer found the long-lost statue in the mud when working his field with a plough and the other saying that Vishnu sacrificed himself by drinking the poison of the cosmic ocean, which then turned his throat blue.

At a height of 150 meters, the Potala Palace is located in the central part of Lhasa city. A meditative office building and an administrative office building are adjacent to the palace. A red palace symbolizes meditation, while a white palace represents transparent administration. In Tibetan, 'Lhasa' means 'The Land of Gods and Goddesses'. There are different varieties of magical Buddha idols in the Red Palace, while in The White Palace, there are meditation rooms, living rooms, and meeting rooms for foreign guests of the Dalai Lama. Lhasa city is a valley which is also adjacent to two sacred rivers namely, Lhasa and Brahmaputra. According to Buddhists, it is believed that one can obtain ‘Nirvana’ meaning ultimate salvation by having divine view (Darshan) of Potala Palace and Jokhang Monastery at least once in one's lifetime.
The Potala Palace: The palace was built in the 7th century by Songtsan Gampo, and it was expanded by the 5th Dalai Lama to its present size. At this time, it also succeeds in becoming the residing, the main political and religious palace of the Dalai Lama. In addition to living quarters, temples, tomb stupas and monk dormitories, the main palace was divided into two sections: the white palace and the red palace. It is 115.703 meters high with thirteen stories. This palace contains countless cultural relics, including murals, sutras, and images, all of which are valuable. Besides being classified as national treasures, these Tibetan arts and culture are also listed as one of the most important cultural relics to be protected by the state council. In addition to 13th Dalai Lama's entombment, 6th Dalai Lama's entombment remains mysterious and unknown.
According to experts, the ashes of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th Dalai Lama were kept safely at Jokhang Monastery after the funeral rites. In the Potala Palace, there are a thousand rooms, out of which 27 are open to the public, such as the Bed Room, Living Room, Study Room, Meeting Room and the Entombment Place of Dalai Lama, the current 14th Dalai Lama, who lives in India since 1959.
22 June 2025 Day 06: Having swill be spent two nights in Tibet's capital city of Lhasa, our journey to Kailash Manasarovar begins by traveling in our tourist coach. One-hour drive from Lhasa, takes us to the Brahmaputra River and through its banks, we reach Shigatse, the second largest city in Tibet. It has fine luxury hotels for lodging and we have arranged a Nepali restaurant for our pilgrims to eat in. This is a huge monastery known as Tashilimphu Monastery. The distance from Lhasa to Shigatse is 271 kilometers and it takes 5 hours to drive there.
23 June 2025 Day 07: A buffet breakfast will be served in the morning, followed by a drive to New Tingri via Lhatse. On the journey today, we pass one high pass with a beautiful view of Tibet's countryside and landscape. There are 160 KM between Shigatse and Lhatse, and it takes about 3 hours to get there. We stop for lunch on our way from Lhatse to New Tingri, which is 140km away. The roads to New Tingri and Saga are divided into two directions after lunch. One goes to Tingri way to Everest Base Camp and the other goes to Saga way.
In order to reach New Tingri, we follow the road. The road ascends gradually after leaving Lhatse until it reaches the top of Gyatso La pass (5259 meters). While the 250-kilometer drive from Shigatse to New Tingri does not rank among Tibet's most interesting routes, you will pass over five thousand meters high Gyatso la pass (5260m.) and come closer to the Himalayan ridge with Mount Everest at its center.
24 June 2025 Day 08: Today we will drive to Everest Base Camp early in the morning 3 AM. A real Tibet journey begins at the Everest base camp and ends at Mount Kailash. Leaving the highway and heading towards Everest Base Camp. You can enjoy spectacular views of Mount Everest 8848m., Cho Oyu 8201m., Makalu 8464m., and the snowcapped Himalayas as you drive over Pang La (5,120m). The drive continues to Rongbuk.
The Rongbuk Monastery is located at an altitude of 5000m. above sea level and is dedicated to Guru Padmasambhava. Take a half hour drive up to Everest Base Camp (5200m.) and admire the breathtaking view of the north face of Mount Everest. After exploring the Everest base camp, drive back to New Tingri and then continue to Old Tingri and Saga. One of the ways to get to Saga is to drive through Khu Tso, a beautiful highland lake, as well as Nunilo Tal (Salt Lake). We can see the Brahmaputra River and cross the bridge before reaching Saga bazaar. When you reach Saga, check in at the Hotel where Nepali staff will welcome you and prepare a meal for you. From Saga onwards, our staff will prepare every meal. Food will be provided in Nepali restaurants in Lhasa and Shigatse or onward, and breakfast in hotels. check into the hotel and overnight in Saga.
25 June 2025 Day 09: After leaving Saga Bazaar, we pass Dongba, Praying and reach the Brahmaputra River's adjoining point. The Brahmaputra is formed by the amalgamation of two rivers. The Gangdici River flows from the Himalayan Range and the Tima Yangjong River flows from the Tibetan Himalayan Range through Saga, Shigatse, and other places in Tibet before merging with the Gulf of Bengal.
Our van or bus stops for lunch on the way to Manasarovar. After lunch, we continue our journey driving towards Hor near the holy Lake Manasarovar, observing beautiful scenes and naked hills along the way. Kailash Parbat, Mount Gurla Mandata, and Manasarovar Lake can all be seen from here. A total distance of 102 km is covered on this circumambulation around Manasarovar Lake. The local people say it takes three days for locals to circumambulate, but 5 to 7 days for tourists or pilgrims.
From this place, Manasarovar circulates. It is called Hor (the name of the place starting and ending). Nangri Tourism Board organizes a Blue Bus to transport people around Manasarovar Lake and beyond, but sometime the same bus will run around Manasarovar. Hor is the starting point and the route extends to Chiu Monastery, Darchen and Yam Dwar before returning to Hor. It will take about two hours to complete one-half of the rotation around Manasarovar Lake. Rakshas Lake and Manasarovar Lake as we reach the top hills. Chiu Monastery is where we will stay overnight today near Manasarovar.
The Lake of Manasarovar: The Manasarovar Lake, also known as Brahma's Lake or Mapam Yum Tso Lake Tibetan, is located at an altitude of 4850 meters above sea level. Manas means mind or consciousness and Sarovar means Lake. There is a deep spiritual influence and a wide range of religious values among Hindus and Buddhists. It is believed that taking a holy bath in the Lake will purify one's soul and body from sin. This Lake is mentioned in ancient Hindu scriptures as a must-see place for anyone seeking salvation - the highest level of achievement in Hinduism. There is something very charming about the cascading waves of the Lake in the wind.
Ramayana says that a person who bathes in the pure water of Manasarovar Lake directly reaches heaven after death. The person who drinks the water of this lake recognizes "Shivalok", the palace of Lord Shiva, according to scripture. From Manasarovar Lake, Kailash Parbat is 58 kilometers away. As it flows eastward from Manasarovar, the Brahmaputra River is called the Brahmaputra. There are many people who want to visit Kailash Parbat and Manasarovar at least once in their lives.
During full moon nights, Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati bathe in Manasarovar Lake from 2 AM to 4 AM. We can see also stars bathing in this lake every night as well, while Parvati Mata is the only one to bathe the other every night. At night, pilgrims are said to be able to live and watch God there if they stay at this place Manasarovar. A Hindu religious book mentions that all Hindus should visit Manasarovar at least once in their lifetime, since it covers a very large area that is pure.
Rakshas Lake (Demon King Ravana Lake) Sarovar
Hindu tradition has given this Lake its name Rakshas. Carnivorous monsters are believed to hide in the dark waters by Hindus. This belief led people to call it Rakshas Tal and stay away from this Lake, considering it a symbol of dark and destructive forces. Tradition has it that the water of this lake is poisonous and fatal. In order to replace the poisonous water of this lake, a tunnel was built from Manasarovar Lake. In this lake, there is pure water and a golden fish. The lake's negative reputation changed and people began to go nearer to it, but they still don't drink the water.
This Lake was meditated in by Ravana during the Treta Yug, according to Hindu mythology. To the west of Manasarovar Lake is Rakshas Lake. The altitude is 4,540 meters above sea level. There are many birds in Manasarovar Lake, including ducks, but none in Rakshas Lake.
26 June 2025 Day 10: From 2018 A.D., pilgrims will not be able to take holy dips in Lake Manasarovar. We set up a big tent for bathing inside the tent with holy water from Manasarovar. A Nepali Brahman Pandit from Kathmandu conducts Rudrabhishek, Hawan, and Arati Pooja after taking a bath to offer Tarpon/holy water offerings, flowers and money to the God. Our company Monterosa Treks and Expeditions is providing Nepali Braman Pandit who will perform Rudrabhishek, Hawan, Aarati and chant Shiva mantra during the event and rituals. In order to relieve themselves of any kind of sin they may have committed knowingly or unknowingly, pilgrims can pray for Lord Shiva and recite the names of their ancestral gods, and perform Hawan (offering grains mixed with butter) in the name of gods. After you have completed all spiritual activities, have lunch, then drive to Darchen, which is 40KM away and takes about an hour to reach. Darchen is the base camp for Mount Kailash. The Kailash circuit starts and ends here, and it is 53km long.
Mount Kailash
Kailash Parbat is located at 6714 meters above sea level, the height of the sacred religious place. Religious purity is supposed to be at its highest in this region. Prior to the origin of Hinduism, Jainism and Buddhism, it was supposed to be the center of the world. Ramayana and Mahabharata glorify Kailash Parbat. There is no civilization without a description of Kailash Parbat in ancient Asian stories. The Kailash Parbat is situated in Tibet. There is a lack of satisfactory scientific research in this region. It extends from Brahmaputra in the east to Karakoram in the west.
Although they explained Kailash differently, different religious groups like Shaiba, Hindus, Buddhists, Jains and Bon-Po respect it equally. According to traditional Buddhist and Shaiba literature, Kailash lies at the center of Sumeru, the world's center. Hindus believe it is the residence of Lord Shiva and his wife Parvati. In the name of Kang Rimpoche, Buddhists revere it. Kailash and Manasarovar are considered great natural Mandalas by Buddhists. For them the Mandala is a symbol of respect and salvation. For this isolated peak the Jains worship it as Astpada. In the same place Rishavadev, the founder of this religion, received spiritual salvation.
Various logics can be used to claim that this Parbat is sacred. From this isolated Parbat, big rivers like the Brahmaputra, the Satlaj, the Indus and the Karnali originate. There are 53 km around Mount Kailash and pilgrims should walk 38 km within three days, or four days if they combine the Charan Sparsh tour. In Hindu mythology, a person who moves around Kailash Parbat will be free of all sins committed during his or her lifetime. They get Nirvana if they move around the Parbat 108 times. The legend also says that moving Nandi once is equivalent to moving around Kailash 13 times.
The water flowing from Kailash Parvat's snowy tip is worshiped as Ganges, the holy river flowing from Lord Shiva's form. From the side of this monastery, one can see Mount Kailash more clearly. Mount Kailash can be seen between Mount Manjushree at right and Mount Bajrapani at left when viewed from Dirapuk. The Ganges River, which originates from Mount Kailash, meets the Lachhu River and mixes with Rakshas Lake. Rakshas Lake receives water from river that flows from the Kailash Himalayan Ranges. It is called Karnali because it forms at the junction of Rakshas Lake Junction. Rakshas Lake water escapes through the Karnali River, but Manasarovar water is stored in Lake Manasarovar.
27 June 2025 Day 11: This is the first day of the Kailash Parikrama / Kora from Darchen to Yam Dwar & Dirapuk. Drive to Yam Dwar in the morning and walk to Dirapuk (12 kilometers 4890 meters). From Yam Dwar, we start our Kailash circumambulation [kora] circuit / round / Parikrama. Due to the distance of only 6km, the blue bus takes 20 minutes to reach there. The place is also called Yam Dwar. At Yam Dwar, all the pilgrims are offering to Shiva after getting off the bus. After that, we walked around the Yam Dwar three times. The Gate of the God of Death (Yam Dwar) is known as this place in Hinduism. In the shape of a temple, Yam Dwar built it.
There are three bells inside, called Barma, Vishnu and Maheshwar. There are three circuits inside the door of this temple. The first day of Parikrama begins with belling and continuing to walk or ride a pony to Dirapuk. During the pilgrimage on foot, physically handicapped pilgrims pay homage to Kailash Parbat at a distance and return to Darchen because the visit to Yam Dwar is believed to provide equal religious gain as the visit to Kailash Parbat itself. Nepali workers, pilgrims, horses, yaks and porters are all on this path or trail.
We stopped for lunch after walking along the Lachhu riverside path for three hours. From here, Kailash Parbat can be clearly seen. We can see an elephant-shaped stone below the Parbat. It is believed that God Indra rides on it. We can reach Dirapuk after walking for two hours. Lha Chhu River has a Dirapuk Monastery situated on its banks. Its name is derived from the name of the monastery. It is located at a height of 4900m. above sea level. Seeing Kailash from here is like seeing heaven.
It is estimated that more than 500 pilgrims arrive at Dirapuk every day riding on horseback or walking from Yam Dwar. Some Yatri prefers to take a pony and a porter for the 4 days, (If you wish to take a pony and porter, please inform the Tibetan guide in advance). Today, I have to walk continuously for about five to six hours. All our goods and equipment, as well as your bags, will be carried by Yak. You can see the north face of Mount Kailash from Dirapuk mud house / guesthouse, where you can spend an overnight stay.
28 June 2025 Day 12: Pilgrims Walk for 4 kilometers from Dirapuk to Mount Kailash also called Charan Sparsh after breakfast. The experience of touching the base of Kailash Mountain feels as if it was a blessing from Lord Shiva. The pilgrims offer Pooja and seek the blessing of Lord Shiva. The return journey takes approximately one and a half hours to two hours and is a day trip from Dirapuk.
The word "Charan" means "feet" and the word "Sparsh" means "touch". Together they meaning to touch one’s feet”. There has been a tradition of touching Kailash Parbat's feet since ancient times. Vibrations from the human body touch the feet, which promotes the flow of energy and blessings, happiness, and success. As a result of this exchange of energy, one feels vigor, self-confidence and contentment. A glow emanates from within. A blessing received after "Charan Sparsh" is like an invisible amour. Motivation and strength are provided by them. The second night will be spent in Dirapuk
29 June 2025 Day 13: Walking or horseback riding from Dirapuk to Zuthulpuk. We have to pass Dolma La Pass, which is 5636 meters above sea level. The weather at Dolma La Pass can be unpredictable and sometimes snowstorms may occur. Therefore, we should start our journey as early as possible in the morning. Our route passes Ganesh Kund and Gauri Kund Lakes. After climbing down the pass, you will reach Shapje Datok and walking to Zuthulpuk monastery. Approximately nine to ten hours are needed to complete the 22KM distance. A mud house in Zuthulpuk will be your home for the night.
GANESH KUND (SAROVAR)
It takes about 45 minutes to reach the 5636m. Dolma La pass. The holy Ganesh Kund is located on the right-hand side of the walking trail (Kailash circuit). The walking trail is 15 minutes away. There is a Kund in the shape of Lord Ganesh where he bathes.
THE LEGEND OF GAURI KUND
The legend of Shiva Purana mentions a story about Gauri Kund or Parvati Kund, which is part of Hindu mythology. In the Puran, Gauri Sarovar is for purifying the mind, body, and speech of Kailash Yatri. Almost all Yatri of Kailash Manasarovar tours include their tour program.
Gauri Kund is for holy bath to Goddess Parvati Mata. Gauri Mata had resuscitated her beloved son Ganesh from frothing cleaning agent on her body. During her sacred deep, Ganesh was placed at the path to prevent the unknown from entering. Lord Shiva came to his residence at Mount Kailash at the same time, but Ganesh jee did not recognize it. As a result, Lord Shiva became furious and cut off the kid's head. Mata Parvati became distressed by seeing it and asked Lord Shiva to bring the child back to life so she could regain her son. Kailash tour Yatri is fascinated by this true story.
THE MEANING OR SIGNIFICANCE TO VISIT GAURI KUND.
By splashing the Jaal on their heads, Kailash Yatri purifies their minds, bodies, and speech during their Parikrama or Kora. For their ancestors to have peace in heaven, they offer TARPANA and Jaal (holy water). Their homes are filled with holy water brought from the Kund.
WHERE IS THE GAURI KUND LOCATED?
On the Kailash Manasarovar Yatra tour, after crossing steep descents of the Dolma La pass, the highest pass, GAURI KUND is located at 5608 meters above sea level, but there is no walking trail, so one has to walk on massif rock.
